Man’s Search For Meaning

I have a tendency to observe a series of events or mentions in my life, and interpret the repeat mentions as a sign. Most recently, Viktor Frankl has been the subject of such a set of “coincidences” in my life.

Several years ago I was first introduced to Fankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning as one which I would really enjoy reading. I paged through it a little, thought it looked great, but never bought a copy.

I thought about the book from time to time, kept wanting to purchase and read it, but I never actually took those steps.

Just the other day I was in the shower (where I’m known to do my best thinking) and was remembering the book, making a commitment to check it out next time I was in a bookstore or browsing Amazon.com. Later that night I posted an unrelated status update on facebook, to which I received a response from an old friend I had not spoken with in some time.

Of course, since it was a considerable bit of time since we last chatted, I investigated his profile to see what info he had listed. The very first quote was one from none other than Viktor Frankl. I got it by this point, the whole universe wanted to remind me to purchase a copy of Man’s Search for Meaning. I’ll get to it in the morning…

Morning came, I forgot. So, catching up on facebook later in the day, another friend, by happenstance, posted a link to a video on Youtube, which I have embedded below. Take one guess who the video features…

Yeah, Viktor Frankl.

Yet another confirmation that I need to explore his writing to fall in-line with what the Universe wants for me. So please, enjoy the video, and get your own copy of the book. I’m expecting to gain some great new ideas and motivations from reading Frankl’s classic.

Please comment if you have any experience with Frankl. I’d love to hear your interpretation of his work, or what successes it has led you to.
